Q: Is We Don’t Waste a Food Bank?
No, We Don’t Waste is not a food bank; however, some of the items we obtain are provided to various Food Banks.
Q: Is there a fee for your services?
We Don’t Waste does not charge any fees to either its donors or agencies.
Q: Does We Don’t Waste pick up food from individuals?
We Don’t Waste does not pick up food from individuals, as we cannot guarantee the integrity of the food required for food safety.
Q: What are my liabilities with regard to the donation of food?
The Federal Good Samaritan Act and the Good Samaritan Act of the State of Colorado protect all donors.
Q: Does We Don’t Waste pick up surplus food from buffet tables?
We Don’t Waste only recovers food from venues, caterers, events and restaurants that meet the individual food safety requirements of our food partners.
Q: Does We Don’t Waste pick up at night?
Because of logistical issues, We Don’t Waste does not pick up at night.
Q: Is there a location where I can drop off food to be distributed by We Don’t Waste?
At this time, We Don’t Waste does not have the ability to accept drop off donations.
Q: Is there a limit to the quantity of food you can collect and distribute?
To provide appropriate quantities to our agency partners, We Don’t Waste requires quantities that will serve a minimum of 25 individuals.
Q: Do you deliver food to individuals?
We do not deliver to individuals as our purpose is to provide food and goods to community-based agencies that in turn provide donated items to individuals, as they deem appropriate.
Q: How can our agency become a food recipient? What are your criteria?
Interested community-based agencies should contact us by phone or via email to discuss our program and how to participate.
