The Women of We Don’t Waste
March 15, 2024
It’s International Women’s History Month! We Don’t Waste is so excited to celebrate the women who make our organization an outstanding workplace and a formidable force in our mission to reduce food insecurity and food waste. We thought it would be fun to introduce these intelligent and compassionate women (who make up half of our entire staff!) by letting you know a bit more about who they are and what they do within We Don’t Waste.
- Allie Hoffman is our Director of Impact and Engagement. She is our data wizard and is constantly making sure our education and advocacy programming is as impactful as it can be. She’s also a hobbyist ceramist responsible for a good portion of our in-office mug collection.
- Katie Malarkey is our Director of Human Resources. She is responsible for keeping the organization staffed with amazing talent, furthering our professional development, and running a smooth-sailing ship.
- Kim Claustro is our Mobile Market Assistant. She ensures that at each Mobile Food Market, our shoppers have a great experience and provides interpretation for our Spanish-speaking shoppers. She is a great part of how we can directly distribute so many pounds of food into our communities two times each week.
- Barona DiNapoli is our Volunteer Program Manager. She not only oversees our volunteers during their time with us, but she also helps facilitate the volunteer aspect of our new We Rescue app!
- Caroline Hissong is our Communications and Marketing Manager. She is a master of design and ensures all communications, be they emails, newsletters, reports, or social media posts, are up to the We Don’t Waste standard.
- Jessica LeCortz is our Development and Events Manager. She curates and plans all events big and small for the organization throughout the year while also overseeing database management and the We Don’t Waste supporter experience.
- Julia Lennon is our Program and Education Manager. She is the brain behind our in-school education program and food waste audits, and a great source of knowledge regarding all forms of sustainability. Ask her for a fun fact about food and we know she’ll have one!
- Khadija Mohamed is our Food Recovery Manager. She leads our team of Food Recovery Specialists and manages the flow of the millions of servings of food coming through our doors, and ensures that we can bring in and safely store any donated food until its distribution.
- Lauren Pollitt is our Nutrition and Environmental Education Coordinator. She is the brain behind nearly all of the recipes we share at our Mobile Food Markets and online! She can be found at markets and within classes teaching people about nutrition and ways we can protect the planet from food waste.
- Victoria Stutesman is our Office Administrator. She keeps everything in the office running smoothly, from outgoing mail to invoicing/accounting and preparing for incoming guests, and is the face that greets every visitor at our front door.
- Amanda Wenzell is a Senior Food Recovery Specialist. She engages our food donors daily, maintaining our relationships with them all and making sure we are safely and effectively recovering delicious and nutritious food.
We are so grateful to the team of women who choose to work with We Don’t Waste. Having a woman in every program of this organization is something that we’re proud of. Representation and visibility are important to us and knowing that regardless of how someone interacts with We Don’t Waste, there is likely a woman they will cross paths with is a testament to the hard work of women’s rights activists of the past and present.
