We Don’t Waste is a leader of the movement to reduce food waste in Denver. Volunteers help us expand our reach and operations, so we can keep even more food out of landfills. We are always looking for extra assistance with efforts such as our Mobile Food Market, food recovery initiatives, and fundraising.
If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer with We Don’t Waste, please review our volunteer jobs below and/or select from the available volunteer opportunities in the calendar below, or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Mobile food markets
Join us at one of our Mobile Food Markets and help fill families cars with bags of produce, dairy, and non-perishables, as well as direct traffic and help everything run smoothly. Ages 15 and up!
We often have needs for volunteers to support us at special events. On September 23, 2021 we need volunteers to join us at Fill a Plate for Hunger (our annual fundraising event). We have needs for volunteers to help with set up, break down, serving food, and general support during the event.
One of the best way to affect change is by using your voice! You can use your voice to support We Don’t Waste by becoming a member of our Speaker’s Bureau. We provide training on our organization and the issues of food waste and hunger so that you can become a representative of We Don’t Waste at public events.
Broncos Game Food Recovery
After every home Broncos game We Don’t Waste volunteers work together to recover safe-to-consume leftover food from each suite. Volunteers transport the recovered food to the Epicurean kitchen located within the stadium where the food is then refrigerated and picked up the following day by We Don’t Waste staff to distribute. This is a great volunteer opportunity for groups. Joining us as a Broncos Game food recovery volunteer is a great way to help reduce food waste and get to see the inner workings of an NFL stadium!
As part of the We Don’t Waste COVID-19 response we have adjusted our Mobile Food Market model to a drive-thru food distribution to encourage social distancing while providing families with pre-packed bags of groceries. Volunteers are needed to help pack these bags of food at our Distribution Center the day before these Drive Thru Markets.
