Volunteer Opportunities
We Don’t Waste is a leader of the movement to reduce food waste in Denver, and volunteer support is what helps us distribute millions of free meals to our community and expand our reach and operations. We are always looking for extra assistance with efforts such as our Mobile Food Market, food recovery initiatives, and fundraising.

Mobile Food MArkets
Connect with the community directly and support our food distribution at rotating locations around the Denver metro area! Volunteers help market participants select food, load up their food bags and carts, and assist with participant check-in.
Food Recovery Hub Assistance
Volunteer shifts include helping with grocery bag making and food donation sorting or helping nonprofit partners shop for food for their organization. All volunteers must wear close-toed shoes when working in the warehouse.
Education team support
Volunteers support our education team with presentations and food waste audits. You will help collect food waste in the students’ cafeterias and record information regarding what food is being thrown away. These food waste audits will occur at different schools, so please check the shift description for more information.
We Rescue app
Participate in volunteer-led food recovery on your own time with your phone and your vehicle! Volunteers select local food donor businesses (bakeries, delis, and more) to recover food to deliver to We Don’t Waste’s food recipient partners. Opportunities change each week, check back for more.

Choose when you want to volunteer, claim a food rescue from a local business, and deliver it to one of We Don’t Waste’s nonprofit partners fighting food insecurity in Denver and Boulder county. In as little as 30 minutes of your time, you can support food access for your neighbors. You’ll see the impact of food recovery and distribution firsthand!
Corporate and group volunteering
Every business can reap huge rewards by connecting employees to opportunities to engage with and improve their community. Volunteering as a group provides a great team bonding experience that demonstrates your team’s commitment and values. Most of our regular volunteer opportunities are open to groups, but please contact us with information about your group size and availability to coordinate your event.
